Good afternoon Archery Enthusiasts!
As per usual, the days got away from me as the hectic nature of the holiday season has me on the run. Didn't mean for the review to be this delayed but final close-out of projects and the budget at work kept me from getting this done.

But here it is!
The New York City Archery Group's Holiday Party Review!

First of all, many, many thanks to Ariel, Hilary, Isabella, Damon, Ann and David for making it out to this annual event. The restaurant actually had us in a private side room and gave us a great chance to just chat and enjoy ourselves.

I was delayed by traffic, but by the time I got there everyone was chatting with one another anyway. Damon arrived a little while after me and we got down to figuring out what on the menu would make great appetizers and what was really calling to use for entrees.

Ariel and I ordered some hot saki, which came in really cute bottles, with tops which were actually our drinking glasses. We ordered a bottle of the Modavi Chardonnay, but the waiter made the mistake of bringing us the Cabernet instead.

Oh well, more great wine for us. biggrin

While we waited for our apps. we heard from Travelin' Ann about her marathon in Alaska and the excitement of running in bear country. Hilary was sporting a new and fashionable hairdo and I got a chance to talk about my trip to Iceland. Damon, a new member who hasn't gotten a chance to participate due to his work, did get a chance to meet members and see what kind of group we are, which is always a good thing.

David missed eating with us, because he couldn't find us in the restaurant. Ann and Isabella had other holiday parties to hit and we bid them happy holidays and the rest of us headed over to Fat Cat Pongs.

Alas, the place was packed and although the live jazz band had some chops, the wait for an available table was too long for Damon and he had to head back to Brooklyn.

We got a table soon after and it was then I knew we were in trouble.

David had brought his own pool cue. Ouch. Can you say pool shark?

We paired off and had a good time shooting and enjoying the occasional clean shot. If you were paired with David, you were looking at an easy run of the table. If you weren't it was more like a leisurely stroll. Lol! Still a nice time, because making that long shot of sinking a difficult ball is so much fun.

We finally called it a night around 12ish(?) and I'm happy to say I'm once again grateful to have such wonderful members and look forward to making 2008 another successful year of archery.

Cheers & Happy Holidays,
Deidre

Hello everybody,
I'm glad, but not surprised that the group had such a great awesome time out.
If my jury duty started one week earlier instead, I would have been there and having the time of my life.
Also, we would have given David a "good run for his money" on the pool table...........
"Great time with great people".....you can't ask for more........
May each and everyone of you have a safe and happy holiday season...........
