Greetings Archery Enthusiasts!
Goodness, time slips past and it slips fast. January went by quickly and suddenly it's two weeks since our first event of the year. C&B continues to treat us exceptionally well and gave us the small room again to nock off all the bow rust. Paola arrived first, quickly followed by David, his wife and his daughter. Mark arrived soon there after and I split my time between the small room and the large room checking in with folks as we got back into the archery groove. Mark has some super new equipment as he begins his dedicated march toward competing. He tells me he's practicing twice a week and is looking to sell his old equipment: "The Adventure Series is a very versatile line of recurve bows designed to meet the challenging needs of archers at any age and for programs including schools, camps, JOAD and recreational use. The Adventure 66" is rated for 14 year old archers to adult size. The draw weights are measured at 28" and recommended brace height is 7 " to 8 ".
He's including the rest. His asking price is $125. I believe he used the bow for 3 months, so that's probably a good deal if you're looking for a good starting recurve bow. Mark says it is okay to contact him if you are interested in purchasing this equipment or asking him any questions about the equipment. I got in some good rounds and am trying an approach of lowering just slightly into the shot, instead of pulling the string straight across my body. This puts me all 9s in a circle in three arrows followed by three 8s, so I'll explore this technique more in the next few weeks. Anne-Marie and Igor showed up around 3 PM to bring it ole' school with Igor's horse bow and Anne-Marie beating up the target with her, "stick with a string" a.k.a. long bow at 15 yards. I squeezed in a few more rounds and then hitched a ride with Mark to the station and another great visit to the range came to an end. As I work on attracting new members, I do encourage all the old members to join us at the range. As I've always said, this club is only as good as the members who participate in the events we have. Without membership participation this club will go the way of many other clubs that were a good idea but didn't actually have active membership. I love hitting the range with members because I like to help people with the sport and it gives me insight into how I can improve as a archer. If you can't make an event, feel free to call or drop me an email. I tend to hang out longer in the hopes I can hook up with a member, but given my current work schedule this can be difficult since Saturdays and Sundays are often the only time I really have to take care of myself during the week. I want to thank Damon for reaching out and letting me know you couldn't make it. I look forward to meeting you at the range next time. Thanks again everyone for your continued support and here's hoping I see you at the range soon! Cheers, Deidre |
