Hello Archery Enthusiasts,

One of our members, Mark, sent me a clip from youtube that put the idea in my head to identify some youtube clips that could be of help to members. Thanks Mark!

Turns out youtube has some great examples of premiere and competition archery form that can be very useful to anyone in the club who is looking to learn more about form or improve upon their existing form.

There's nothing like learning from example and here are some clips I've collected which are excellent examples of:

Top tier Olympic recurve form:

Fantastic slow motion example of the common anchor point for recurve shooters (tip of nose, front of mouth, middle of chin, with hand under jaw) and what their release looks like, the placement of their bow hand and the physics of the impact of the string on the arrow and what happens to the arrow's flight: http://www.youtube.co...

For all the people bored with me talking about back tension and what it feels like and what you're trying to accomplish with back tension, this slow motion video says it all:

And this is the same gentleman in regular speed. (I had been trying to find this again for weeks!): http://www.youtube.co...

These are all very useful to outstanding videos you can watch again and again to help with your form.

While viewing these, pause these clips and take note of posture: placement of shoulders, position of head, where the elbow is of the draw arm, etc. Replay these again and again and learn aspects of shooting that keep appearing in the form.

I hope this will be of help to many of you looking to improve in this sport, without the space or time to practice as much as you'd like.

Here's hoping I see you at the range soon.

Cheers,
