III. Archery Guidance
This is a new section and one I've always wanted to include in our newsletter, but haven't often had the time to create. However, this year I'm making a concentrated effort to add this service in the hopes this can help any member who may not be able to participate often, but could still use the information to improve their skills. For this newsletter I came across a link to an article discussing how women and teenagers get fitted for equipment. It was written for suppliers in the archery industry, and it gives great pointers regarding what you have to know when fitting a bow to a teenager or woman: http://findarticles.c... Feel like catching up on the 2008 Archery World Cup? Check out this match from the Stage 1 of the 2008 Meteksan Archery World Cup in Santo Domingo. This clip is the Individual Mens Compound Gold stage and, once again, this clip is a great opportunity to see the form of the professionals. IV. General Club Update Membership I have set a goal of two new members a month and I'm happy to say, the first 3 months of the year worked out as planned. Our Archery Home Our relationship with C&B still remains a great one and this top-notch facility still offers us the type of support this kind of grassroots endeavor needs. We are not a huge group, but they still take the time to assist members with form, maintaining and updating their equipment and they are very interested in supporting a fledgling club such as ours. It remains an absolute pleasure to shoot there. Hooray for Archery! Hey, I almost forgot to mention: I still love this sport! The other day I got home early and I set up my indoor range and got in a solid hour of practice. Felt great; making archery a permanent part of my life still remains one of my better decisions of the last decade. Big Archery Shoutout As much as I love this sport, I started this club to encourage others to learn and practice it too. The value and quality of this club is dependent upon member participation and frankly it's just more fun when new and old faces hit the range and learn from each other. So, Robert , Murat , Pradeep , Igor , Hilary , Tony , and Jennifer , you are most definitely missed. Candidly, it is disheartening to see that many names and I hope that some time soon people take a moment to let me know if they're making it back to the range or if staying active in the club just isn't possible any more. Life happens and I, most certainly, can appreciate how much life can happen rather unexpectedly. All I ask is that members take a moment to drop me an email letting me know if they can or can't remain an active member. How You Doin'? Last, but certainly not least, this is a big ole archery shout-out to our members "emeritus" Gentleman Chris of the Northwest and "Ohio" Anne. How is archery practice in your neck of the woods? Getting in some good outdoor practice? Reply and post a pic in your message showing us your archery digs, we'd love to see them and just hear how archery is treating you. Well, that's all from me and here's hoping I see you at the range soon. Cheers, Deidre NYC Archery Group Organizer |
