Greetings Archery Enthusiasts!
And Happy (belated) Earth Day! This is the long overdue newsletter. Yippee! Archery news! Let's start off with the news I like to report the most: I. New Member Welcome! I'm happy to report we have 4 new members. One hasn't posted a profile yet, but let's meet the members who have: Greg , returning to the sport after an 8 month hiatus. He's picked-up the compound bow again and reports he's enjoying some pretty good groupings from 15 ? 20 yards. Quala , also returning to the sport after a childhood of experience; so, it has been quite some time since she's had a chance to practice. Cory , returned to the sport on her birthday and is excited to join a group like ours; with our interest in promoting the sport and the hands-on support of our members. Another new member is named Rachel, she's looking to hone her skills, learn more about bowfishing, and she'll be putting up her profile soon. Please take moment to welcome them to our club and if you haven't done so, please take a moment to RSVP to an upcoming event here . It's always a great opportunity to meet new members and welcome them in person. II. Events, Events, Events! Summertime Outdoor Shooting The weather has improved and that means it's time to start planning for our Summer trips to Floyd Bennett Field. A quick review is called for, regarding trips to this State run outdoor field:
Select the "Floyd Bennett Field Map" link to get the PDF of the map. Impromptu for You, Saturday or Weekday shooting As I've announced before, since I no longer have hosts available for Friday events, I am trying to add another Saturday event whenever possible. Candidly, this can be difficult for me given my work schedule, but I ask for your patience as I try and free up time to add an additional Saturday a month. Also, Mark visits C&B and Proline during the week, so if you're ever interested in practicing doing the week, feel free to drop him some email and see if you can't meet him at one of the ranges. (This is usually the part where I include a link to his profile, but much to my surprise he hasn't filled one out or included a picture of himself.Hint, hint.) BAMM 4.0 Every year, in either July or August, we do a Summer celebration of all the wonderful membership this club has: Big Archery Member Meetup. In the past Gentleman Enrique and his delightful wife Gabi, have been kind enough to host this party in their welcoming abode, and this year I'm not even going to ask because I believe we've imposed on their good will enough. This year I'd like to have this meeting at a restaurant in the Village. Wild Ginger was a bit cramped, so I'm looking at Mexican at Caliente Cab Co., which has enough seating, meat and vegetarian meals and some delicious frozen beverages. What more can you ask for on a Summer night? Since it has been a very long time since the last newsletter, this one is too long for the message board, so you can find Part 2 here. Keep reading! It's totally worth it. ![]() Cheers, Deidre NYC Archery Group Organizer |
