- Introduction:
- "New to archery, but always been fascinated with it and wanting to try. I live in NYC and doing a PhD which means spending most of my time at home with data. Looking to get active and enjoy life a bit. This group looks like a great crowd!"
- Archery is a sport that requires practice and discipline, and we meet regularly to fulfill these requirements. If you cannot attend an event at least ONCE every 60 days, do you understand your membership will be discontinued?
- "Practice is what I'm looking for. I'm not into hunting, but I want to do it for the discipline and skill of the sport. If you have plenty of trips, I should have no problem attending, although I am required to be up 'north' for school regularly."
- How did you find out about the NYC Archery Meetup Group?
- "Via the net. I'm a bit scared, actually, as I haven't joined groups this way in the past - I'm a face-to-face sort of person. But this is too good an opportunity to let it pass!"
- Tell us about your archery experience. Never shot before? Tell us your expectations.
- "I once got to pull a string at a farmer's show doing conservation work in Namibia. They had to prepare a kids bow for me - a bit embarrasing, but at least the arrow flew straight. I loved the feel of it, clear mind, shoot true. "
- A large part of the value in joining our group is socializing and learning from other archers. Can you tell us what you hope to get out of joining our archery club?
- "I'd love to meet others who are interested in this and can share their knowledge and experience. I'm a very easy going person, quiet by nature, but once I get to know people I like to think that I'm fun to be around."
- As a group, we have ambitions for travel and expansion; corporate sponsorship and a shooting space of our own. As a member of the club, what developments would you like to see?
- "A shooting space is a must. I'd love to be able to go to a nearby range after a day of work and spend an hour or two shooting arrows. Nothing better to clear the stress of every day life. Might I suggest a coffee bar in the space for us addicts?"
