Greetings everyone,

Saturdays of archery are coming fast and furious and I'm making every effort to get reviews out as fast as possible. So here's another one.

Yippee! More archery!

Saturday was another beautiful day and by the time Ariel and I got to the range David was already there. The small room was set up for 3D practice so we couldn't use it this event.

It had been quite some time since I've practiced for a solid 2 hours straight, so I was looking forward to seeing the results of what I had learned from really examining my form.

I also made sure to spend some time with Ariel on her form, since she was experiencing some issues with coming to full draw and keeping her bow hand in the right position. This was giving all her shots arrows sticking in the target at extreme diagonals.

However, given the size of her hand in comparison to the thickness of her riser she was having a difficult time with bow hand placement.

The arrow rest also was giving her problems, but I recommended a modified hand placement and that she go back to bare finger shooting on her string rollers instead of with finger tabs.

With a replacement arrow rest made of metal and a bow sling, I think she'll be in great shape to continue to tear up the target.

Paola and Chachi joined us very soon after Mark's arrival and we all finally got a chance to shoot in the main room, which I don't think has happened in months.

Mark's form really is looking great considering he's only been shooting for about 5-6 months and Paola quickly got into great form and was opting for shooting at a smiley face instead of the regular target.

Hey, sometimes it's good to mix it up a little.wink

I was intent on getting in 10 rounds at 3 arrows a round, so I didn't get a chance to catch up with Paola as much as I would have liked, but I was happy to see her back practicing with us.

My rounds were fairly consistent and I was 79% out of a perfect 300. I'm happy with my form and increased my bow weight to see what that does for my accuracy in the coming weeks.

I'll be posting some pictures soon but be warned there aren't a lot of them, considering I got in some heavy practice on Saturday, and didn't get a chance to take a lot of pics.

This year is turning out great for the club and I'm looking forward to organizing some outdoor trips to Floyd Bennett, possibly as soon as April.

Cheers everyone and here's hoping we see you at the range real soon.

Cheers,
Deidre

Chachi and I had a great time and my only regret was not having the strength to shoot more at the end. My arm was getting tired and I couldn't hold it straight.

Yay NYAC!
